Trying to balance working forty hours a week, a social life, blogging, and being a homemaker can be so difficult. And I’m finding that cleaning tends to fall on the wayside. Then, when we have guests over, all hell breaks loose, and I’m scrambling to clean the entire house as quickly as possible.
So I finally came to the conclusion that I needed a better system. I am not one who does well in a cluttered or dirty environment. It stresses me out, like majorly. So one morning, as I was getting ready for the day in a bathroom that hadn’t been cleaned in longer than I could remember, trying to figure out the next time I would have enough free time to actually get to it, I came up with a solution. I decided to create a cleaning schedule, one where I could stay ahead by completing one small task every evening instead of letting everything pile up.
The cleaning schedule I created is a four-week rotation. I’ve kept it to five nights a week, allowing for a couple of free nights when things get too busy, or I’m just too tired to clean. Obviously, those free nights on the calendar aren’t hardline – if you need to trade them around, that’s totally up to you! I left out tasks that I automatically do, like making the bed, taking out the trash, or doing the laundry, only including those that tend to get pushed aside.
I haven’t gone through the complete cycle yet, but so far it’s been working! If you’d like to use the cleaning schedule I created, you can download if for free below! All you have to do is subscribe to my blog, and you’ll get the download as well as be the first to know whenever I post new content!
Let me know in the comments below any chores you would have included that I missed, or if you already have a system in place that works for you!
